I appreciate you :) Be sure and shoot me a note if there's anything I can do to help get you get your marketing up and running, k?
I got a great email from a new friend I connected with through facebook. She’d read my blogging book and I suggested she also read Magnetic Sponsoring.
Here’s what she wrote :
Hello Andrea, I just finished reading the e-book. I am one of those that are tired of the meetings, festivals, trying to talk to strangers. But how do I make this work for the business that I have spent 5 years building? If I have my own domain and site will people be able to find me through search engines?
And this is my reply to her -
There are two ways for people to arrive on your website.
Search engines, which might be part of your game plan in the end, but it’s pretty tough to beat the folks who have been doing “search engine optimization” for their living for any length of time to make that the whole plan. Kind of a steep learning curve, though not impossible.
A much more viable way is to get familiar with and use what’s called Web 2.0 — aka. the social networking platforms and tools that have cropped up all over creation.
Adding in an optin page that collects your own leads is what makes it possible to leverage the best part of the Internet — the fact that it’s global and available round the clock.
Some of the meet and greet (and sifting and sorting) HAS to be automated or you can’t properly attract the folks who are interested or follow-up with the people who want to hear from you.
Maybe the place to begin is by asking “Who do you want to attract?” Who is your perfect partner/ customer? What’s your best outcome here?
Then consider … how many people “just like that” you’ll need within your particular comp plan to make that so. And how many of those do you already have in place?
I always try to begin with the end in mind. For instance – I only ever need 2 people to build with. Got ‘em. Now I get to help other people learn how to attract their two.
Also, it turns out some of the best places to hang out online are in communities where you really enjoy the topic. Do you have any favorite past times? You’d want to choose forums that allow a signature line, put your link there and then yack to your heart’s content on the topic.
Maybe seems over simplified — but once your little funnel is all set in place — it really can be that straight forward. You add value, people appreciate you and get curious to know more … click through, you offer something that’s worth trading their name/email for and voila – your contact list is begun.
Think of your domain name / site as your business card if nothing else — it’s how people tell you apart from the rest of the folks online. I feel if you’re building online you have to have your own domain at the very least.
Does that sorta address some of your confusion?
Hope so

Thanks for the questions — always helps me get clearer too.
Today I found a neat page (completely ad free) page that lists a wide variety of Web 2.0 platforms – there are so many!
You can check it out here – Fab List of Social Networks and Social Network Directories
Happy networking!
Andrea
